Piero Gilardi
Biography
Piero Gilardi was born in Turin in 1942 and studied at the Art School and at the Accademia Albertina there. A pioneer in the technological art experience, Gilardi was one of the protagonists of the 1960’s Nouveau Realisme and European Pop Art movements.
In 1963, he realized his first private exhibit, “Machines For the Future”; two years later he conceived the first pieces in polyurethane foam for Gufram, and began to display his works in Paris, Brussels, Cologne, Hamburg, Amsterdam, New York and more.
From 1968 onwards, he incorporated new artistic trends of the period — Arte Povera, Land Art, Anti-form Art, — and collaborated on the production of various international reviews.
