At the inauguration of the 56th International Art Exhibition in Venice, Gufram certainly did not go unnoticed.
The irreverent Italian furniture brand was present in its own way with an enormous green cactus 6 and a half meters high surrounded by two eggs measuring a couple of metres, which paraded this morning through the canals of the Serenissima on board a small boat.
The inflatable sculpture, a phallic and fertility symbol and entitled "God", is the interpretation of Gufram's iconic coat hanger by "Toiletpaper", the multidisciplinary project by Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari.
Tourists and onlookers witnessed in disbelief and amusement the passage of the gigantic pagan idol, from the Church of the Redentore at Punta della Dogana, up to Piazza San Marco and then ending at the Giardini della Biennale, an obligatory stop for Gufram, an unconventional Made in Italy company that with irony and a pop spirit he has always created a bridge that unites the world of art and that of design.
