AMFAR, Sharon Stone on the Bocca®
Milano, Italy, 2012
The famous BOCCA® sofa, inspired after Salvador Dalì’s Mae West portrait, has been designed in 1972 by Turin based architects collective Studio65 and produced by Gufram since then in limited edition. Exhibited around the world in the most important museums of applied art and design (MET, MoMA – New York, Centre Pompidou – Paris, Design Museum – Weilam Rhein, etc.), the red lips of BOCCA® sofa has been reckon as a revolutionary piece of furniture in the history of design and one of the Made in Italy masterpieces.
This sofa made expressly for amfAR-Milano has been reinterpreted, for the first time after 40 years, by an internationally rising artist, the Italian Letizia Cariello, who has done a handcrafted covering belongs to her art.
The result is a special and unique edition of a piece of furniture fully loaded with oneiric references of childhood and with her tipically calendars of the days ahead us, a brand new icon able to dance on the edge of the thin line between art and design. “Someone” by Letizia Cariello is an ideal path of connection between Dali’s wonderland and Gufram’s land of wonders.
“Someone” has been auctioned by Sharon Stone to Italian fashion designer Roberto Cavalli for 35.000,00 euros.
