Fiore di CACTUS® at RAY Phoenix, Arizona

Meet Fiore di Cactus®, a special-edition of Gufram’s iconic 1972 CACTUS® coat rack, reimagined by Francesco Vezzoli in honor of Ray Phoenix.

The mission of RAY is to bring art and design into the daily experience. That spirit led the company to Gufram, with the belief in making great design a part of the every day, and your favorite artist’s favorite artist, Francesco Vezzoli, who has built a practice out of reimagining pop-culture icons across film, embroidery, performance, and sculpture. With Fiore di Cactus®, Vezzoli adorns the iconic CACTUS® with a single bloom, adding a note of playfulness to a design classic. His philosophy of challenging the status quo aligns with Gufram’s Radical Design ethos and RAY’s approach to creating spaces, making him the perfect collaborator.

Produced in a limited run of 30, each piece is cast from the original 1972 mold and hand-painted with Guflac®, a patented coating that looks like leather yet feels soft to the touch. Fiore di Cactus® is pictured here in the 5th floor living room at Ray Phoenix, where one piece will live in the shared amenity space. A select few others will be lent to residents for their own apartments, furthering RAY’s mission to bring art and design into the everyday experience.
