The Broken Series

PINK EDITION

By SNARKITECTURE

Gufram, the Italian design brand ever standing out for its radical and revolutionary approach, partners up with K11 MUSEA, the latest cultural-retail destination in Hong Kong, to celebrates the city’s annual art festival Art Karnival with a new project: the BROKEN SERIES PINK EDITION designed by Snarkitecture.

Opening to the public on May 14th, K11 MUSEA will host until June 27th two exclusive set ups displays dedicated to the pink version of some of the most recent and disruptive projects by the Gufram centred on the colour pink. The collection is produced in limited edition, highlighting the preciousness of the brand’s creations which, although always playful and ironic in their look, are produced and finished by hand thanks to an unparalleled know-how accumulated in more than 50 years of history.

THE BROKEN SERIES PINK EDITION

In a world-first launch at K11 MUSEA, Gufram introduces the limited BROKEN SERIES PINK EDITION, designed for Gufram by Snarkitecture, the renown New York design practice. Composed of the Broken Mirror, Broken Square Mirror and Broken Bench, the BROKEN SERIES PINK EDITION peers into an alternate dimension where alienating optical effects play with the “short-circuit” between seemingly hard appearances and the actual softness of the material in which it is made. Alex Mustonen and Daniel Arsham, the masterminds behind Snarkitecture, played ironically with this idea of ambiguity and concept of “soft/not soft” in using polyurethane to mimic concrete. To achieve the texture of the concrete wall, Gufram’s special patented paint, Guflac®, is applied entirely by hand, enabling the polyurethane to maintain its elasticity, and to experience unique aesthetic experimentations.

To enhance the spectacular nature of this new limited edition, the BROKEN SERIES PINK EDITION is displayed at K11 MUSEA in a whole pink environment which welcomes visitors and collectors into a totally new Radical world.
