  • Accessible to all, instantly recognizable, versatile, so symbolic it recalls archaic and timeless forms of expression: this is the art of Keith Haring, the American artist who has combined the brilliance of Pop Art with the deviousness of graffiti. How could a brand like Gufram miss the opportunity to measure itself with such a legacy? The answer is in the new collection with Luna Luna!

History

Both this disruptive artist and the radical design brand par excellence are local, well rooted in a precise territory, and also international, aiming at gaining a very wide influence. Moreover, both are characterized by a series of recognizable works and motifs. Finally, both Keith Haring and Gufram have a varied history of grand and ambitious projects.

Luna Luna is the first common point between Keith Haring’s legacy and Gufram’s creative work. Luna Luna is a revelation in the history of contemporary art: founded in 1987 in Hamburg, it is the first real amusement park designed entirely by artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, David Hockney, Sonia Delaunay, Rebecca Horn.

Among these amazing personalities, Keith Haring also stands out: his design for Luna Luna is a “classic” yet very special carousel. His unmistakable two-dimensional trait acquires, as if by magic, three dimensions. The seats that rotate in harmony are shaped like Haring’s legendary characters and maintain his style, also visible on the panels of the structure of the carousel and on the upper and lower edges. A total work of art, homogeneous but lively, ironic and poetic.

Short after the reopening of Luna Luna at The Shed in New York, these masterpieces are visible again, and here comes Gufram: thanks to a careful selection, two of the seats in the carousel – the dog and the crawling child – are handmade with the use of soft polyurethane and Guflac® paint. This “duo” was born from Gufram’s ambition to further spread the marvelous creations by Keith Haring for Luna Luna, making them gracefully down the carousel and enter homes.
