Womb was presented to Gufram during the legendary Eurodomus 4, the fair showcasing the furniture and homes of the future. This environment and this era of revolutions are the perfect field for this idea to bloom. Bistagnino has the remarkable ability to blend contemporary design and a sweet childhood memory: the duvet on his grandparents’ bed, which, not being quilted, would inflate every time he jumped on it. The soft and comfortable fabric enveloped him, just like the Womb armchair does—and just like a mother’s womb.
As the designer states, once you sit on this “cloud,” you wish you never had to get up again; this shows great softness, but also excellent ergonomics, achieved thanks to Gufram’s manufacturing expertise. Bistagnino explains: “When you sit down, you don’t want to get up. In fact, it’s an armchair psychologists should use. It’s an armchair that calms you, because it takes you back to an “embryonic” state, like a baby.” It doesn’t matter which side you sit on the Womb: with its rounded, airy shape, it’s always ready to welcome you for long, pleasant, and relaxing seating sessions.
