Gufram renews its collaboration with Snarkitecture, presenting the new limited edition of BROKEN SERIES that plays with the shades of blue.
Following on from the success of the very first BROKEN SERIES originally launched in 2017, the new BROKEN SERIES BLUE EDITION includes the Broken Mirror, Broken Square Mirror and Broken Bench. The three pieces peer into an alternate dimension where alienating optical effects play with the “short-circuit” between seemingly hard appearances and the actual softness of the material in which it is made.
Alex Mustonen and Daniel Arsham, the masterminds behind Snarkitecture, played ironically with the idea of ambiguity and concept of “soft/not soft” in using polyurethane, Gufram’s signature foam material, to mimic concrete. The form of each piece is both familiar and strange - an architectural fragment that reflects the shared sensibilities of Gufram and Snarkitecture.
"Our studio is excited to be launching the BROKEN SERIES BLUE EDITION. Since 2017, we have been collaborating with our friends at Gufram to grow this collection through new forms and colors. For the latest series, we wanted to find a shade of blue that was playful but also felt connected to nature" comment Alex Mustonen and Daniel Arsham, Co-Founders of Snarkitecture.
The BROKEN SERIES BLUE EDITION is produced in limited editions of 33 pieces each, highlighting the preciousness of the brand’s creations which, although always playful and ironic in their look, are produced and finished by hand. To achieve the texture of the concrete wall, Guflac®, the special paint invented by Gufram over 50 years ago, is applied entirely by hand, enabling the polyurethane to maintain its elasticity, and to experience unique aesthetic experimentations.
